Operational plan of draining and cleaning of the waste water in the area of settlements size between 2000 and 15000 population equivalent (PE) and under 2000 PE in Republic of Slovenia

Operational plan of draining and cleaning of the waste water in the area of settlements size between 2000 and 15000 population equivalent (PE) and under 2000 PE in Republic of Slovenia (Operation program of II. phase) defines the program of provision together with time frame, financial plan (costs and sources of investments), execution program for sanitation of pollution sources (draining and cleaning) from the area with settlement size between 2000 and 15000 PE and under 2000 PE on the vulnerable areas. There is a special stress on the volume of the groundwater stock and karst springs with the aim of water supply and environmental protection areas.

We took into account the law regulations and requirements that is dealing with vulnerable areas and the criteria about the quality of ground and surface water, used for different purposes.

Table present the statistics for the settled areas that need the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) up to the 15000 PE by the chatechement areas.

Chatechement area  The number of settlements in the chatechement areas (II. phase) Total size of the WWTP (II. pahse) [PE]
Mura 9 57.700
Drava 18 120.190
Sava-Gorenjska 7 40.250
Sava-Ljubljanica 13 85.200
Spodnja Sava 13 85.200
Soèa 10 38.826
Coast 15 15.750
TOTAL 72 442.916

Operation plan of II. phase defines priority list of the building of WWTPs under the criteria from the law regulations. Theses are the data about the areas with special importance according to the usage of water for the whole Slovenia:
§ the area anticipated for fishing,
§ locations of the unregulated baths,
§ locations of the swimming pools,
§ areas with groundwater,
§ karst areas,
§ areas with natural, regional and country parks,
§ locations with waterworks systems,
§ analysis of the quality of the water in different rivers and rivulets,
§ the areas of the water zone for the pumping station.

All data is geographically defined. With the usage of geographical information system also the settled areas which extend into the areas of special importance are defined. On the basis of these data we prepared the score system of the vulnerable areas. According to these system we can defined the priority list of necessary investment into settled areas.
