Construction of sewage system and wastewater treatment plant Slovenska Bistrica with founds from PHARE is finished

From September 2002 were taken in Slovenska Bistrica construction of sewage system and wastewater treatment plant. Construction was co-financed by European Union from the PHARE found, proj. no. SI-0007.01.01.0001. Supervising engineer and FIDIC engineer was Institiut za ekološki inženiring Maribor, L.t.d. (IEI).
In the last week, on 20th, 21st and 22nd April 2004, were successful done technical overviews for all constructed structures.
Construction of sewage system was divided into 3 phases:
Ist phase: construction of storm water retention tanks (equipped with devices without energy supply: rinsing cylinder - not at ZBDV 700, flow regulation device on the principle of jet of water) ZBDV 500, ZBDV 600 and ZBDV 700
IInd phase: construction of storm water retention tanks (equipped with devices without energy supply: rinsing cylinder, flow regulation device on the principle of jet of water) ZBDV 100, ZBDV 120 and ZBDV 800
IIIrd phase: sewage pipelines, storm water overflows, pumping station.
Central wastewater treatment plant Slovenska Bistrica has capacity of 15.025 PE and will treat communal wastewater. It is sequencing batch reactor plant with aerobic stabilisation of sludge, nitrification and denitrification, and chemical treatment of phosphorous. The treatment process is automatic remote controlled, used by SCADA.
The whole sewage system in Slovenska Bistrica is designed in mixed system with joint collection of rain and communal wastewater. Therefore the system has several structures with overflow for non polluted rain water which goes directly to the surface waters. On that way the treatment plant is not unnecessary hydraulic overloaded.
It is expected one year of trial operation of wastewater treatment plant Slovenska Bistrica will start in May 2004.
